Meet Brittany Trumpower-Garner, LPN, CMSS, Program Instructor at MDS of Kansas. Brittany began her career in the medical field working as a CNA in high school. She knew instantly it was an area she wanted to pursue and went on to successfully acquire her LPN. Brittany joined MDS of Kansas in 2017 with 10 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. Working as a medical scribe, she finds the interaction with providers to document patient encounters in real-time to be quite rewarding. Having a heart for education, credentialing, and helping others, it did not take long for Brittany to assume the Lead Scribe position and Program Instructor at MDS of Kansas. She is directly involved in the development of new growth and ideas in the curriculum, utilizing sharp medical language, grammar, and specific do’s and don’ts in clinical documentation, as well as mastering electronic health record nomenclature.
She loves teaching and sharing her education with others to learn medical scribing, and helping students strive to be the best they can be—all while maintaining and continuing her own education. Her enjoyment comes from seeing students be confident, knowledgeable and successful!
Hello! My name is Donella Aubuchon. I am the CEO and founder of MDS of Kansas. After beginning my career as a registered medical assistant (RMA) in 1986 and attending Wichita State University, studying business management, I entered the field of medical transcription. I quickly built a very successful medical transcription service, MDS of Kansas, LLC. With more than two decades in the medical field and eighteen years in business management and operations, I have witnessed firsthand the merging of advanced technology. This continues to place an emphasis on efficient and accurate healthcare documentation with strenuous demands on physicians. New job codes for healthcare documentation specialists (HDS) and medical scribe specialists (MSS) have evolved because of the complexity of electronic health records. The demand for HDS and MSS will only grow as physicians are required to do more and more data entry.
I have spent many years teaching, mentoring and interning new graduate students from other programs, so deciding to develop and expand our informal training and take it to the next level was not difficult. Because the industry continues to need formal educational programs, specifically in job codes relative to electronic health records, the development of our MLS/MT (now healthcare documentation specialist) and medical scribe specialist programs were launched. Extensive research and development led to complete education-to-vocation training programs which were approved by the Kansas Board of Regents, Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity, and The American College of Medical Scribe Specialists in 2008 and 2012. MDS provides the thorough in-depth educational foundation that I believe is vital to the success of a healthcare documentation specialist and medical scribe specialist.
I am passionate about supporting our physicians in these changing times, so will continue to pioneer through the industry, focussing on their needs. Medical Scribe Specialists and Healthcare Documentation Specialists help preserve the integrity of the patient health record.
Please feel free to meet the rest of the staff at MDS of Kansas!
